For our Spring Staff Development my program hosted Blair Samuel to lead a workshop on Facilitating Communication and Supporting Parent Relationships in our Classrooms.  This was the perfect workshop leading up to our Spring Parent Teacher Conferences.  Blair was engaging, thoughtful and knowledgeable in the field of early childhood.  Throughout the presentation staff were intrigued and involved in conversations with Blair regarding relationships with parents and how to have difficult conversations including how parents hear and process information that we share with them.  Being that Blair is an educator and a parent of young children she understood both sides of the parent/teacher relationship and how to build connections between both.  I highly recommend this workshop for centers looking to build effective relationships with their families.

We met Blair last year when my daughter was in Pre-K and we were gearing up for her yearly IEP review meeting which would determine if she would qualify for services in Kindergarten.  Even without knowing my daughter's history, she jumped right in to learn her case by taking the time to get to know her through pushing into the classroom and speaking with her teachers and therapists.  Blair helped us navigate the challenging process of dealing with the Committee on Special Education for our district.  She knew exactly what to ask for, what to say, and she was also on our meeting Zoom's advocating on behalf of our daughter along with us.   After a few months of more evaluations and meetings we were ultimately able to secure the support she needed.  As Blair is extremely knowledgeable, empathetic, and resourceful; we couldn't have done it without her help.  Anyone would be lucky to have Blair guiding them through this difficult process.
